August is Essex Wildlife Trust’s Marine Month, so get outside and enjoy Essex’s beautiful coast!
Essex boasts the longest coastline of any county – with more than 350 miles of varied habitats that provide a home for numerous wildlife species throughout the year.
From fossil-rich cliffs, sandy and shingle beaches, saltmarshes and tidal mudflats galore, there is plenty to see and celebrate about the Essex coast!
Many of our Visitor Centres and reserves will be hosting marine-themed events during Marine Month, so get to the beach and get stuck in. Here is a taster of some of the events we have lined up during Marine Month:
