Summary:
Ian Mercer is a retired geologist and gemologist who can’t stop talking about rocks, crystals, and gems. He gained his degree in geology and X-ray crystallography at Birkbeck College, University of London and is a Fellow of the Gemological Association. Ian worked for the Geological Survey and Museum and then the Gemological Association, travelling the UK and the world to catch sight of its many wonders - including pebbles and mud. He found plenty of those back home in Essex. He aims to help you dig into this Tale of Deep Time, Ice Floods, the Seaside, and an Island Buried Beneath Essex. It is the longest possible history of Essex.
