The Great British Spring Clean – Beach Clean at The Naze

Date / Time
Start date:
Sat, 03/03/2018 - 1:20pm

Location and timings: Meet at The Naze Visitor Centre @ 1.20pm for a quick brief and to collect your equipment. We’ll then head off on a roughly 15 minute walk to reach the section we’ll be cleaning up.

Interested? Please email coastalwarden@essexwt.org.uk to let us know if you plan to come with the name of each person attending/the number in your party and a contact phone number. This will help us organise the equipment and will ensure we can let you know directly if the event has been cancelled due to bad weather etc. Hopefully this won’t be the case!

Summary:
Marine pollution is one of the major challenges facing our seas today. Every year hundreds of species accidentally eat or become entangled in rubbish and nets and if left, plastic debris in coastal areas remains in marine ecosystems for centuries! But we can help! All round the country, people are taking part in the Great British Spring Clean between 2-4 March 2018. We’re getting involved to clean up one of our own amazing beaches. Using the Marine Conservation Society Beachwatch methodology, we’ll also survey a section to help identify what kinds of pollution are along the Essex coast.
