Brentwood & Billericay Walk at Amwell and Rye Meads

Summary: 
A good turn out on a cold day for some great sightings

Eleven well insulated visitors turned up at Amwell to see what this cold January morning could offer. Nobody was disappointed at seeing a solitory Red Crested Pochard  and at the Bittern Lake a Kingfisher. Walking through the small woodland we found a flock of Siskin feeding in the tree canopy and on the lower trunk, a Tree Creeper. Some of the group headed off to a Hertford Industrial Estate where a flock of Waxwings had been reported, and they weren’t disappointed here either. At Rye Meads we had the reserve to ourselves and came across a busy Water Rail.
