Abberton Ranger Blog – October 2018

Main image:

October has been another mild month on the whole with lots of nice birds around including Great white egrets, Greenshank, Black-tailed godwit, Redshank and Kingfisher to name a few. The reserve volunteers have been clearing the reeds from the front ponds where they are overgrowing a bit too much, to create some nice areas of open water. We aim to plant 4050 trees this winter so we have been busy working out our tree order and tree guard order ready to arrive during November to begin planting. Some more bits and pieces of grass cutting has been ongoing around the reserve.
